Fit PDF pages to A4, Letter, Legal or A3 paper

Prepare a mixed-size report for A4 printing

A report mixes Letter portrait pages with a landscape financial table, but the recipient wants a consistent A4 file. Select A4. Use landscape if the table matters more than portrait presentation, and begin with a 10 mm margin. Review small table figures after resizing rather than assuming the selected paper guarantees readability.

✓ Compare target paper dimensions in PDF information. Check a wide table, fine type and the last page; confirm annotations or form answers were not expected in the new artwork.

Make it work for your document

Options after selecting a file

Page size

A4, Letter, Legal or A3.

Choose the intended print stock rather than relying on viewer scaling.

Orientation

Portrait or landscape.

A different page shape leaves spare space when fitted proportionally.

Margin

0 to 50 mm on every side.

Larger margins leave less space for readable artwork.

Frequently asked questions

The details, when you need them.

Will the page be stretched?

No. The artwork is scaled proportionally and centered.

Will form fields remain interactive?

No. Interactive document features are not carried into the new page layout.

Fit artwork without stretching it

The page contents are scaled proportionally to fit inside the chosen paper and margins. Portrait and landscape source pages are handled using their displayed orientation. Extra space may remain when the source and target shapes differ. This does not reflow paragraphs into a new text layout.

Check document features afterward

The tool creates new pages using embedded page artwork, preserving text and vector drawing content where possible. Interactive forms, annotations and bookmarks are not transferred. Check any information stored in those features before using the resized version as the final document.

Check the saved result

Compare target paper dimensions in PDF information. Check a wide table, fine type and the last page; confirm annotations or form answers were not expected in the new artwork.

Layout is fitted, not reflowed

New page artwork does not carry interactive forms, annotations or navigation. Text is not reflowed.

Text is too small after resizing

A wide source page was fitted into a narrow target. Choose landscape, reduce the margin, or retain a larger paper size.
