Stamp text or a logo over your PDF pages

Label a proposal as DRAFT

A draft proposal needs a diagonal DRAFT mark that leaves prices readable. Start with restrained opacity and inspect the densest page. Use a text watermark reading DRAFT, centered diagonally. Start near the default opacity and lower it where table values become hard to read.

✓ Check both dark and light backgrounds; verify small table text remains readable.

Make it work for your document

Options after selecting a file

Watermark source

Enter text or select a PNG/JPEG image.

A transparent PNG avoids a rectangular background; a large image can increase output size.

Placement

Center places one mark; Tiled repeats it across the page.

Tiling covers more area but creates more visual interference with dense content.

Opacity

Set visible strength from 5 to 100 percent.

Low opacity can vanish on busy pages; high opacity can obscure text.

Angle

Choose 45, 0, -45 or 90 degrees.

Diagonal text may reach close to page edges; inspect long labels for clipping.

Size

Use points for text or a percentage of page width for images.

The same setting can look different on mixed page sizes and orientations.

Pages

Apply to all, odd, even or a custom range such as 1-3, 7.

Page selection uses document positions rather than printed page labels.

Frequently asked questions

The details, when you need them.

Can I use a logo as a watermark?

Yes. Select an image watermark and provide a supported JPG or PNG image.

Does a watermark prevent copying?

No. It is a visible page mark, not a security control.

Choose a readable watermark

A short word such as DRAFT often works better than a long sentence. Use lower opacity when the document contains dense text or diagrams. A tiled layout repeats the mark across the page, while a single watermark keeps the design quieter. Check several pages, especially those with dark backgrounds.

A label is not access control

Watermarks help communicate status or ownership visually, but they do not stop someone from copying or editing a document. They are also not a redaction method. An image watermark should use a supported JPG or PNG file. Keep the original PDF if you may later need an unmarked version.

Visible mark, not access control

A watermark cannot prevent copying and must not be used to conceal confidential text.

The mark obscures the document

A high opacity or dense tiled pattern can cover small print. Lower opacity, switch to a centered mark or reduce its size; check dark backgrounds too.
