Trim a scanner border from a letter

A scanned letter includes wide scanner borders. Trim margins on one page before applying the same crop across similar pages. Choose This page only and draw the retained area around the letter. Adjust millimetre margins, then apply the same margins only if the remaining pages match.

✓ Review every differently sized page and ensure signatures, headers and footer text remain visible.

Options after selecting a file

Margins in millimetres

Top, bottom, left and right remove space from the visible page boundaries.

Opposing margins must leave a usable page area. Content beyond the boundary can still exist in the PDF.

Page scope

All pages applies the margins throughout; This page only limits them to the displayed page.

Batch margins can clip content in mixed layouts. Single-page scope requires reviewing other pages separately.

Preview rectangle

Drag on the page to select the area to keep.

A visual rectangle is convenient for rough framing; use millimetre inputs for repeatable measurements.

Frequently asked questions

The details, when you need them.

Can I crop only one page?

Yes. Choose This page only before saving.

Does cropping remove hidden content permanently?

No. Cropping changes page boundaries. Use a verified redaction workflow for confidential information. This platform’s revised redaction workflow is under release review and rebuilds every page as an image.

Make page framing more consistent

Cropping can remove excess scan borders or focus the view on a useful section. Use the page navigation controls to check how a crop fits different pages. Applying the same margins to every page works best when their sizes and layouts are consistent. The tool rejects margins that leave almost no visible page.

Cropping does not securely erase content

This tool changes PDF page boundaries. Content outside those boundaries may still exist in the file and may be recoverable by editing the page boxes. Do not use cropping to hide confidential details. Use a verified redaction workflow when information must be removed. This platform’s revised redaction workflow remains under release review.

Page boundaries do not erase content

Hidden material can remain outside page boxes. Cropping is not secure information removal.

A crop removes text on some pages

Identical margins do not fit documents with mixed layouts or page sizes. Use This page only for exceptions and inspect boundaries before saving.
