Can an existing WebP be made smaller?

Does WebP compression preserve transparency?
Yes. Transparent areas stay transparent. The image content may change because this page uses lossy compression at the quality you select.
Can I compress animated WebP files?
No. This tool accepts still WebP images. Animated files are rejected so an animation is not silently reduced to one frame.
Should I use WebP or JPG for my website?
Use the format that suits your image and destination. WebP supports transparency; JPG is widely used for photos. Compare output sizes and visible detail rather than assuming one format will always be smaller.
